OpenTechSchool Matera

As increasingly poweful digital tools become part of our daily lives, it’s more important than ever to learn technical skills.

OpenTechSchool Matera addresses this need as a part of the global OpenTechSchool network,

a movement aiming to offer free tech education. Our events are open to technology enthusiasts of all genders, backgrounds, and experience levels, willing to coach or learn in a friendly environment.

Currently at the unMonastery, we hold several workshops weekly in the Sassi Barisano of Matera, Italy. Some topics include game and web design, Arduino, mobile app development, and Git for open source collaboration. We offer instruction in languages like Python and Java and in visualization tools like D3 and Gephi. #OTSMatera ultimately works to teach people how to teach others, forming a community around skillsharing—an initative to make learning tech skills fun, easy, and inherently social.

How can you participate?

Whether it’s facilitating workshops remotely, pointing us to fun how-to tutorials, or being a community manager, you don’t have to live in Matera to participate. Look out for our weekly workshop schedules and calls for participation.
