hmm maybe we could just do a campaign to spread the word

about projects we love amongst those nominated? Again. No competition. Just support.

Also Maybe sam has some footage from video he made that you guys

could edit? @Sam Muirhead meet @mariabyck e.g.?

sure

I can send you guys a high quality version of the video or the raw video of particular shots if there’s anything you need?

Elf - stop your continuous sniping. and upload the one from Nico that you have.  Is it perfect ? - No.  Is it worse than nothing ?

better than nothing?

@Bembo Davies I find video Nico did with friends a very nice trailer, but IMO not that great at explaining / showcasing what we do… I understand you like the monastic trip aspect of it but I see this theme of very little relevance in this particular context. How does it emphasize values OuiShare promotes and we do put in practice?

Transparency, Openess, MPRL, Permanent Beta, Inclusion, Independence, Action, Play, Feedback, Impact

It also has no links to relevant pages neither suggest that one can start working on unMonastery anywhere around the world. I’ve written short suggestion what we could do on this card, of course we could improve it or come up with something completely different we like even more. Still I would prefer that we don’t make better then nothing approach a part of our unTradition

Cultural attractor

@elf Pavlik, I think Nico’s video is (almost) perfect, and we can get rid of the “almost” with the one static-text-on-screen for 10 seconds modification suggested below. Reasoning:

  1. I watched some of the other videos (thanks for linking them, by the way) and found that they are all more aspirational than operational. This is true even for very concrete projects like HitchWiki, and it is true because (1) the 1 minute format is more conducive to inspiration than to explanation and (2) the OuiShare crowd is using the Silicon Valley pitch format "we're gonna change the world".
  2. monasticism is a cultural attractor. @NicoBis's video packs a lot of communicative punch, and most of it is, so to speak, client-side, not server-side. It presses the right buttons that prompt your psyche to generate the appropriate response of aspiration to simplicity, sociality, service.

People can learn more on the website: the video is just to evoke the worlds behind the unMonastery.

I would love to help

but currently my computer is out of commission- when is the deadline?

Nico’s video!

It’s visually spectacular and 50 seconds long. Just add a frame of text like:

"Social innovators from all over the world

Living together

In the service of a local community

As is our tradition."

And then the unMonastery logo.

If I may…

I’m not a mother-language-english-speaking-person but I think the text is not quite correct.

If I may, I would suggest something like:

Social innovators from all over the world (or something like changemakers because “innovators” has become a buzz word with nearly no significance)

living together serving local communities as in our tradition… blablabla

I am missing the call for action.

St. Benedict on the call for action

Well, actually St. Bruno, founder of the Carthusian order. This is what he had to say:

“Only God can call a man to a monastic life. When somebody convinces another man to become a monk, he does not make him a saint, but a tormented person.” (source - the source is interesting in itself, because it is similar in intentions to @TOOLosophy's wiki of quotations, except it was made by @lasindias in 2010!)

So, I am not sure a call to action agrees with the unMonastery. Are you guys ready for proselitism yet?

Despite my tendencies…

… English language text can w benefit be run by me.  Ben just gave me the interim report – and claims I saved him by adding the first two sentences.

Actually, let’s ping Nico

@NicoBis puoi aiutarci?

(ah, serve anche il sottotitolo dell’unica frase di parlato che c’è:

"I have only a vague idea of what the unMonastery is

But I accept that it is so.")

Off Course

Sure, in the afternoon I’ll meet Valerio at UnMonastery and we’ll modify the video with your suggestions and put it online in the night.

Thanks!

Thanks @NicoBis!

BTW you guys may like to check out @Sam Muirhead's project - http://www.cameralibre.cc/

What do you think about connecting also with projects like http://side-ways.net and experimenting with media pools in direction of http://www.remixthecommons.org/en/a-propos/

I may better start another thread for that…

Where?

@NicoBis, is this done? Where can I find it?

Soon

Sorry, but yesterday me and Valerio were shooting at UnMon, and we did the modified video this morning, during our trip to Rome. In the afternoon it will be ready (just a little color corrections) and I upload it on Vimeo and than here. It’s ok?

No problem for me…

… but make sure you don’t break the wonderful emotional balance of the video we already have. I used to be a musician, and sometimes the first take in the studio is the best one –  “Buona la prima”

we hacked together cyberfunky video

@Matthias @Alberto I would like to add it on top of that page but it says that I have no permission to edit??

Everyone check it out (also shared on our fb page and will tweet it just now!)

Added video to the top of the page.

I’ve just added the video to the very top of the page.

I also see the permissions issue … only happening for the body field, mmh I never saw this kind of error. I’ll get this fixed right now. Thanks for reporting.
