What's this? In this group we coordinate a project called Future Makers (#futuremakers), with Edgeryders involved in advising UNDP and UNV towards their strategy towards youth volunteering (read the story here).

What's innovative about it? Well, we are co-designing the project , so it's up to us to shape the details together within parameters defined by @Alberto@Nadia, and @Noemi  (they are leading the Future Makers project).

This project is open! Which means, you are invited to browse through our project workspace below, contribute to the discussion, to project development, and of course to invite others to participate. It's a great opportunity to meet and connect with peers from around the world, especially in Armenia, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Morocco and Ukraine.

Ganjina: shared economy micro project

Inge's picture

A hole in the wall, now an open closet. The Ganjina project's motto is to To Give and Take. Basically, you can put items in the closet you don't need anymore, and take from it what you do need. It reminded me also a lot of Sandro, who wanted to install fridges around town for the needed (Sandro, I forgot your handle!).

Crowdfunding publishing Tbilisi Insight Collective's work

Tbilisi (and Georgia for that matter) is doing great on the arts part of social innovation, and again: focusing on public spaces. This time I would like to ask you to consider funding part of Tbilisi Insight art collective's work.

Help us print our publication, exploring personal archives of those living in Tbilisi & the spaces in between the private and the public!

Finalize the agenda of grassroots meetings in Belarus

I will travel to Belarus on Saturday 25th. I plan to spend most of Sunday resting, and have my meetings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Can you arrange meetings as you see fit, coordinating with the "institutional" agenda set up by the UN? Also: can you accompany me at all meetings?

Interview some of the most promising participants to the Cairo workshop (or get them to post)

It seems there were some interesting people and initiatives in the Cairo workshop. I suggest they are approached and ask to tell their story on Edgeryders, or, failing that, agree to be interviewed. They are:

  1. Geraan, an online platform to improve the Egyptian neighborhoods.
  2. Daqahleya community for volunteering and community development
  3. Turn waste into wi-fi

Complete the Campaign Rewards design

During the #futuremakers call on saturday we agreed that this week we would focus on completing the crowdsourced book campaign design and communication materials (see Inge's notes for a full summary of what was discussed here).

Step one is completing the design of Campaign Rewards today.

We do this by reading and commenting one another here please: https://edgeryders.eu/en/node-4554/draft-campaign-rewards

What should the Case Studies look like: a style guide

We need to figure out a good standard format for the case studies. Not in detail, but how we want the stories to be told.

Right now we have finished case studies (as @Hegazy did) or plain transcripts (as @Inge's done so far).

Matthias suggested we look at the Nepal case studies as well.

All your input  is greatly valued.

Take a look at this designforthelivingworld.com for inspiration.

Set up analytics dashboard for the 7 countires

Hi! remember you set up the google analytics dashboard with the three countries for spot the future? Is it still up somewhere? During today's call we agreed we needed it for the other 4 countries also (Belarus, Ukraine, Morocco and Nepal), so I would like to look at how the other one was set up and add new elements to it....

Complete last week's case studies and post 2 more interviews by thursday.

Hi guys, ahead of this weeks call please leave a comment below letting me know you have seen this task. Then do the following:

1. Indicate you will be joining via the blue button here (you will also find a summary of last week's call on the page)

2. Contact three project protagonists (ideally that you found through hacker or makerspaces) and interview them. Post the interview transcripts or the full case study in the Future Makers Case Study Group.

Update the news wiki with new content and calls for action

Nadia's picture

Hi friends,

now that everyone has had some time to get into their projects it is time to start using social media in a more focused and regular way. So how do we leverage our collective online presence to draw attention and engagement to all the beautiful work and opportunities for collaboration?

We have some past experience in running a variety of formats such as twitterstorms (flashmobs on the internet) that are very effective at drawing interest to community initiatives. and they are ALOT of fun for everyone involved.

Find the best openstreetmappers in FMG countries

We are trying to assess the state and strength of the OpenStreetMap communities in FMG countries. OpenStreetMap is a wiki-style built map of the world. The advantage over better known maps like Google's is, of course, that OSM is a wiki; communities can edit, improve and rebuild – and even build from scratch. Google does not go to rural Pakistan, because there is no money to be made there; but rural Pakistani still need maps, so they can build their own on OSM. OSM is like Wikipedia: a global commons that grounds many, many things, most of which have not emerged yet.
