It looks like we’ll be taking a break from our plenary meetings shortly.
Given that our group is growing fast, I would like to propose we use the moments in which we would normally organise a plenary meeting (the 5th, 15th and 25th of every month) to organise an activity that makes us stronger as a group. What I have in mind is mostly little training courses or group discussions (useful for both Associate and Full Members), but it can equally be a social gathering or something more playful.
Here’s a short list of possible things we could do:
Governance training course
Working methods training course
Introduction to NVC
Group discussion about commitment, feedback and managing deadlines
Werewolves game
Antropologists meet aliens game
There’s many more things of course. I’m also hoping for extra meetings just for fun, and I’m hoping many more people will feel a call to create a post saying something like “on day X, I’m organing a ABC (just a drink is enough), who would like to join?”.
I am going to pin this thread, and in the next post I am going to make a list of all the activities we have planned. Every post on a specific activity will have a poll where you can indicate your attendance. Always grateful if you could fill these in.
As we have come to learn, building a cohousing in self-management is a challenging undertaking, and before we know it all our meetings are focused on very technical details.
The summer break in that regard is an excellent opportunity to connect more on the human level. So if you have the time for it, and you can be enthused, my invitation would be to invite set yourself up for a couple of one-on-ones - could be as simple as going for coffee or a beer - in particular with people you don’t know very well yet. No pressure and no obligation of course, but for those who like an aspirational target: maybe try to meet up during the summer break 2-3 times for a coffee, beer, walk etc with a Reefling that you don’t talk to very often?
As soon as the dust has settled (literally) on our house moving, I would like to organise a BBQ on the site, so maybe they could be combined. Although they certainly don’t need to be, if you see it as a stand-alone event…
@alberto: some soon-to-be Full Members asked about your presentation about the société simple. Would you be willing to organise a presentation, possibly also on the topic of risk mitigation?
@reef-communitylife: now that we will be introducing the permit file shortly, would you be willing to organise a small celebration?
