Imagine you have a data wallet and you wish to open a bank account. Now, the bank says “OK, but we want access to ALL your data”.

Now imagine that was the only bank around. Could you afford to say no?

Same applies to opening an account on social networks.

What can be done? Choices need to exist, but real choices, not those that rely on the infrastructure of that ‘bank.’

[TIKTOK IS NOT JUST FOR MUSIC]

Chances are you, or your younger sibling or your child already is using TikTok.

The app is used mostly by tweens and teens to do funny sketches and lip-sync to their favourite songs.

However, in China, TikTok is used to unravel human rights atrocities in China done to Uyghurs.
