Hey Amer, I am really glad to hear you’re also working on an OpenVillage house. So we can add one more house-in-making to the list, right?
I’m moving your comment to its own topic (here in the Houses category) so we can discuss in more detail about your initiative: location, business model, team etc… I’d really like to hear more and find out how an OpenVillage house can fit into the local conditions in Jordan. So interesting!
Here is one remarks already: integrating a hotel, as you intend to, can be a good business model. But in touristic places, the traditional hotel business model is probably too tough in terms of competition. There are always people who are not well served by existing offers of accommodation – often these are young people, so serving their needs fits right into the purpose of OpenVillage houses.
For example in Nepal, @anu is looking to found an OpenVillage house that provides good, low-cost accommodation to students coming from rural areas to the capital Kathmandu. They can pay some money, but not much, so currently they often live in bad houses. But with new ideas of how to use the rooms in an OpenVillage house better, they should be able to get good living conditions (for ideas see here, at point “agile bedroom management”).
In Jordan right now, what are the groups of people with the biggest need for better living conditions?
Also have a look at the article “Proposal for a network of OpenVillage houses”, if you haven’t seen it yet. The whole idea is about mutual support, regardless of country borders. We’re eager to welcome your space in Jordan to the network!
The main idea is for foreign students who learn Arabic. There are good numbers here in Jordan. They come from all over the world. The open village will be integrated into Jordan. All classes offer them rooms of all sizes + Eastern & Western Restaurant + Bar + Garden. + There are objectives for the project to exchange cultures and ideas we need to market this project from the village network open to international students and bring customers
My friend here in Jordan come from foreign students from all over the world studying Arabic and they come from Germany, Italy, Berlabania from all over the European Union, America and Canada, the open village will provide them with all the old hotel services. We need marketing by the open village spread. thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts , actually i was always looking to Jordan as country with great social capital , i read what you wrote about the ( Edgeryders house in Jordan ) but i was wondering how we can mix this public services you suggesting to with the work \ share environment that edgeryders modeling in their house in brussles for example , i m not against brining new ideas but not to lose one on the important assets in the house idea .

It is a good idea to make a special place inside the open village in Jordan to market coffee and sell it. It is suggested that there be a unified logo for the coffee products under the name of Edgriders.

I like that idea, and it’s not a problem at all because Edgeryders is an “open brand” that everyone can just use (see at “4. Name and Logo Use Policy” in this document). Means every OpenVillage group can use a the red Edgeryders logo on the packaging if they like. On top of that, they can of course collaborate to create one single design for the packaging, translated to different languages.
That is a different matter, as it may result in contractual obligations for Edgeryders OÜ as a company So far, all OpenVillage Houses that are community initiatives are independent of Edgeryders as a company; so they would register their own organization etc. and be informally affiliated in our network of OpenVillage houses.
Hope you will understand that we can only provide something with official company letterhead when we know what our part and obligations would be in there. So provide us some details and time, and we will decide.

ولكنى حتى الان لا اعرف تفاصيل المشروع ومن هو فريق العمل وكيف ستكون ادارة المشروع و أين المكان ؟ هل يوجد مبنى مقترح ؟

القرية المفتوحة بالاساس هى أماكن للمعيشة والعمل المشتركين حيث يستطيع الشباب المعيشة والعمل معا على مشاريعهم المجتمعية ( اى مشاريع لها تأثير فى المجتمع المحلى ) ولكى نتمكن من الصرف على المشروع يمكن ان يوجد حجرات للايجار او تصدير منتجات او كافيتريا صغيرة ولكنها ليست اساس المشروع

مرحبا حازم لقد بحثت كثيرا عن مبنى كانت هناك الاسعار مرتفعة حيث ان استئجار مبنى يتكون من طابقين مساحة كل طابق ٢٥٠م يتكون من ٣ غرف نوم و٣حمامات وصالة معيشة وصالة للضيوف وتراس صغير هذا لكل طابق وحديقة مساحة ٣٥٠ م مربع حيث ان اجاره سنوي مايقاب ٥٠ الف $ دولار وسعره شراء مايقارب المليون دولار ولاكن الموقع جميل وفي وسط العاصمة وهذه المنطقة تتميز بوجود اعداد كبير من الاجانب لوجد المعهد البريطاني للغات بجانبه والكثير من المراكز الثقافية مثل المعهد الفرنسي للغات والالماني ايضا بحيث يجعل الاستثمار في هذا الموقع جيد جدا هناك عروضةاخرى. ممكن ايجاد مبنى اصغر بقليل ولاكن في نفس الموقع وبنصف السعر ونصف المساحة
تتميز هذه المنطقة انها تقع في الوسط للعاصمة وبجانب جميع الخدمات المتوقعة. حتى سفارات الدول
هناك خيارات اخرى مثل شراء ارض في ريف العاصمة ومن الممكن بناء القرية المفتوحة كما نشاء وبااقل التكاليف ولاكن سوف تبتعد عن العاصمة حوالي ٥٠كم هناك يوجد خدمات طبيعة جميلة ومطلة على جبال نابلس في فلسصطين ممكن بناء القرية بشكل تراثي جميل وجذاب هناك سعر ١٠٠٠م من الارض حوالي ٧٠الف$ وتكلفة البناء تكلف مايقارب ٤٠٠$ للمتر كامل حتى تستلم مفتاح المبنى وتسكن وهذا خيار جيد ايضا …
