With sunny days ahead of us, and it’s time to get our “summer mode” on! To celebrate the upcoming season and start getting our terrain in order for the sunny months, we are kicking things off with a co-created BBQ on Sunday, May 17th.
Hannah and Jeroen have very kindly offered to host us at their place in the UpLiving “The Brewery” project (https://upliving.be/nl/thebrewery).
While this isn’t a co-housing community in the strictest sense, it is a project designed to foster community interactions. Hannah suggests, besides gathering for having a good time, we use this visit to observe the building to see what “best practices” we might want to adopt for The Reef.

14:00 onwards: Gathering and BBQ.
Synergy with Team R&O: For those interested, a site visit will be organized just before the BBQ (details on timing to follow soon).
Location: The Brewery (UpLiving), Brussels.
Potluck Style : Following the success of our BBQ last August, we’ll be doing this potluck style. For now, just mark your calendars! Closer to the date, we will launch a dedicated post for everyone to sign up for specific items (salads, drinks, snacks, etc.).
Who’s invited? Everyone! Hannah and Jeroen are opening their doors to the whole Reef family—both Effective Members (EM) and Associated Members (AM) are very welcome.

Our BBQ on Sunday is approaching. As Lucia mentioned, we are meeting at Hannah & Jeroen’s place at 14:00. Most of the BBQ essentials will already be there, but we’ll need everyone to bring a few things.
For food and drinks, it would be great if each person could bring something to grill, something to drink, and one extra item. Please fill in what you’re bringing in this Excel sheet. If you decided last minute to join, just add your name. There’s also an “extra info” column if you’d like to add something specific. Please also don’t forget that some people have some dietary restrictions so let’s make sure that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
@Hannah@reef-communitylife : what do you mean by ‘tray to serve food’. I have quite big tray , but in metal (and a bit heavy): is this what you’re looking for? Or is everybody just going to help himself and no ‘serving’ needed?
If we have 1 or 2 trays to serve the stuff that is coming from the barbecue, I guess that will be enough. We also have large plates that we can use for that.
The weather is not looking fabulous for this Sunday. We have reserved the common space, so we will be warm and dry inside if needed. For the barbecue, I understood from Manoj that we don’t have a grill expert joining us, and since the weather will not be great, I would suggest not to bring too ambitious meats or food that needs hours of grilling.

I thought it might be fun to draw on t-shirts since we have a set of felttip pens for textile that easily wash out. If you like the idea, bring an old or dirty t-shirt for your kid (adults too, of course).

Thanks a lot for the hospitality and for organising! I would have really loved to be there to catch up and connect, but something joyful has come up that I didn’t want to say no to, and so I decided to take a pass for this one. Hopefully next time! Have fun!
