Hey Elise, thanx for replying. To be sure, i was specifically talking about the different behaviour of the fungus in the second growth period (outside the mould). I feel that your answer was focussed more on varying growth behaviour in general. Getting it out of its mould wont change its species i reckon .
Assuming growth conditions are kept the same the only real difference I can think of triggering this behaviours change is the increased exposure to air, so mainly oxygen and carbondioxide... Would be interesting to test this more thoroughly, steal a lung patient's oxygen tank (joke) and provide the samples with varieties.
