Asmaa Kamel obtained her bachelor degree in systems and biomedical engineering from Cairo University in 2006. Right after graduation she joined the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, where she worked for around 3 years developing medical equipment specifications and collaborating with hospital design teams to renovate the ministry hospitals.
Late in 2010, Asmaa joined Cairo University Technology Transfer Office and took an extensive training in a number of European universities and patent offices on issues related to Intellectual Property, innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship. She used this knowledge to help and guide the University community to evaluate and develop their ideas and research output to be ready for commercialization.
In 2012, Asmaa obtained her master’s degree from Cairo University, where her research focused on decision support systems used in clinical engineering.
After being involved for a couple of years in delivering literacy programs for adults and schools children, Asmaa decided to take her passion for education a step further and joined Educate-me Foundation to become responsible for the Early Childhood Education Program and running part of the Non-formal Education Program.
Asmaa also works as a freelance trainer in her areas of expertise and is responsible for a social initiative called “Knowledge in Motion” that aims at providing children with the tools and mindset to acquire knowledge, currently focusing on Arabic language literacy as a basic means to acquire such knowledge.
