A tentative budget

Now, this is not a business plan. I am not clear whether we need one (@ilariadauria, can you help me here?). But I think we need to be explicit as to how we will spend the money if we win. And here’s my proposal (roughly based on @ben’s proposals in a community call last week. It’s in Italian, as all CheFare material.

unMonastery will not use the prize’s money to support ordinary activities, but for extraordinary activities such as the evaluation of the unMonastery as a model and, excpecially, of the unMonastery’s sustainability and the support to it’s replicability,it’s improvement and the dissemination of the model.

Obiettivo 1: sostenibilità

Rendere unMonastery indipendente da sovvenzioni e donazioni nel breve periodo (2 anni); renderlo relativamente indipendente rispetto a shock all’economia globale nel lunghissimo periodo (200 anni).

Evaluation process

Awesome! I will translate this in English so we have a bilingual version Edgeryders can comment on

Regarding the evaluation process: on the FAQ page,

  • how do we win? Che Fare is based on the idea that in order to recognize the economical value of culture, cultural projects have to have a strong social and territorial dimension. For this reason, the entire process rewards the ability of the proponents to mobilize their own social networks through online voting, as well as the narrative ability projects provoke in local communities. The storytelling ability will be one of the key factors upon which the jury will decide the winner.
  • which criteria will the jury use to evaluate the projects in the final phase? The jury will analyze the 8 projects which will  obtain the most votes online through the voting process upon qualitative criteria. Not only. The participants which will reach the final selection wil have to present a business plan in order to illustrate all the characteristics.
  • will the Business Plan be public? No, it will not. Only the Jury and a small group of people related to the Network will see the BP.
  • what if a project's value is less than 100.000€? It's possible to present the project, but you have to keep in mind that the prize aims at implementing the participants' activities: the evaluators and the jury will look at the participants' capacity to use at best the money.

Upon this information, questions to ask:

  • how detailed must the BP be if we reach the last phase?
  • how much time do we have to hand it in?
  • in the "evaluation of the prototype" do we consider writing a Sustinability Plan (a BP in €, calories, and other measures)?

Activities: generate… ?

Activities: “which generate money, food or energy” why not “which generate work, food, energy or build community” ?
