It’s my fault, sorry, Chris ! My message didn’t specify the details, and I shared the text with Odile who is very busy recently and she probably used that text. I was indeed thinking that if people do reply, I’ll tell them that it’s a potluck-style BBQ.
I assume that not many people will show up, and if they do, we should feel comfortable to not share the food if they do not reach out to us beforehand - another assumption here: people will understand that BBQ requires a proper prep and the organiser should be informed of their presence.
You got a point @ChrisM. I will send another message with more details regarding the BBQ so that everyone planning to come will bring something to share and something to sit on.
It’s not @Wenwei’s fault. I’m currently in the middle of the end of the school year exams, so I did it while doing other things without adding enough details . I don’t think they will be many people turning up after seeing how many people came for the neighbours get together organised on the 30th May (and the weather was not as hot as it is now).
No worries @Wenwei and @Odile… now that I’m sitting in front of a fan with a cold drink, the situation feels more like a challenge to rise to, rather than a heatstroke-inspired logistical nightmare
For those who are attending on Saturday evening, these are the things that we’re currently short of:
Table cloths (3)
Blankets/tarps/rugs to sit on the ground (3-4)
Big plastic container(s) to fill with ice (2-3)
Beach umbrellas (a few)
Chairs (a lot)
Ice (as much as possible)
So!
If you have tablecloths, things for the ground and/or a container for ice, let us know below.
If you have a beach umbrella, or one that usually goes through the middle of your garden table, either let us know below that you are bringing it, or contact me directly so that Joannes and I can pick it up on Saturday morning.
If you’re coming by public transport and you’re able to bring a portable chair with you, all contributions of this nature will be greatly appreciated!
And finally, can everyone coming stop by a Carrefour, Delhaize or petrol station on the way to grab a bag or two of ice. Preferably not the Carrefour on the roundabout close to the site, as I will be emptying their ice cabinet myself
I also have tablecloths, the big plastic container for ice. I have a big umbrella but I don’t know if it’ll fit in the table. I’ll bring the foot just in case.
If it can help: I have 4 plastic foldable chairs and 6 wooden ones, a big Ikea umbrella (probably difficult to fixate though), a tarp, at least one big plastic box and some reusable plastic plates and cups. If somebody can come to pick them up you are very welcome.
