Europe for Citizens - "Conversation Pieces"

This all sounds amazing

Hey @natalia_skoczylas
I had a thought the other day that stuck around with me and I now would like to stick onto something edgy so that it may live on beyond tomorrow.

Your proposal was the best fit I could find after a short search on the culture squad, although it is only tangentially related.

a) There isn’t much of a EU(rope) wide shared holiday with a EU theme. I think that kind of sucks. Of course we can wait for history to provide one, but I think I would prefer an aspirational one over the “run off the mill European version”, if you know what I mean.
b) Brexit (the end of stage 1) is now really quite probable, and the impact of it is plausibly extremely far reaching. Such an event (independent of how exactly it will pan out) is deserving of public and cultural attention. If people with some far-sight (or aspirations to the same) do not come together and plan this in a wholesome way, they outcome is likely to be determined by social media spending and a creeping barrage of soundbites. In my opinion that is no good, and among other things will also reflect very poorly on Europe, its elites, and its citizens in a historic context.

That is why I think for example espousing a conciliatory vibe would be really important (also with a look at demographics).

Now my actual idea:
The framework is exceedingly simple (in fact it is printed on our money!):
Meet on bridges for a festival (conversation pieces would be awesome), and/or open your windows for a day in a show of sympathy and support (let’s hope it isn’t in January - but even if it is that would make the message stand out well).
Of course an idea behind windows and bridges is that they are connecting elements.
But they are also quite elaborate constructs of civilization that can easily leave the user in somewhat of a precarious situation (or fail if not maintained properly, hashtag MAMA) - very much reflecting the perceived political vibe around Europe I think.
This hints at the multitude of dimensions one can easily explore under this parable, and allow citizens to reconnect with such experiences on a very visceral level and reflect on them.

Would you like to make some plans?

I don’t want to derail the thread completely, and I think it is just a high level thought for now. Let’s message a little to see if there is alignment and opportunity.

Does anyone know when the results are supposed to be published?

I just heard back via the EC portal notifications: it didn’t go through - I believe mainly because of this are which got the lowest score (12/30):

The application fails to address the criterion ''Consistency with the objectives of the
Programme and Programme Strand’’ or gives very little relevant information.

Sent you the full assessment on riot…

Thanks to everyone for the effort!
