Yesterday when we were discussion the recruitment issue, someone mentioned the fact that there is a European School in Laken, and that this may be a good target audience for the remaining units.
Today I had a coffee with Julius from Volta XL, who is in charge (among other things) of recruitment and PR. We discussed the idea of organising a presentation about cohousing more in general (i.e. what motivates us to build a community) and to promote it in those circles. For Volta the target would be the European school near the VUB, but we can of course do two of those presentations if that’s what it takes.
Looking at the one in Laken (https://eeb4.be/fr) it seems that this section is for children with the following native languages: German, English, Bulgarian, Estonian, French, Italian, Dutch and Romanian.
@reeflings, can you please do a mental tour of your network, and th, think of people (who may know people) who have children in this school? We are looking for a person who could tell us how we could promote such a presentation (parents Whatsapp group, intracom, poster, …), so that we could take it from there.
Another possibility could be to go there directly. The are organising their info days on 11 June.
I’ve following this without much success so far. I’ve heard that European Schools do not allow adverts in their channels (not even panneaux d’affichages precisely to avoid having people offering and selling services). Not even for private tutors or sitters. Maybe the small add section is still worth exploring? I can contact the secretariat of the parents association. But it indeed looks like the outreach is very limited.
Yes, I haven’t been successful with that either, just got general info on how they all work. Everything seems to be centralised via de parent’s association, and this seems to be the method in all of them. But I’ll continue asking around .
I have also asked a colleague (and given her some flyers) but according to her there aren’t any online adds or notice boards (in any case, parents aren’t even allowed into the buildings, it seems). She’s going to that summer party but said they were very strict about advertising anything there…
