opencare conference/Cities as Platforms for Open Innovation

City, open and innovation can be keywords to understand social processes involving citizens and designers. In order to drive disruptive processes aimed to social change for the benefit of the public, open source technologies play a peculiar role. Experiences of Amsterdam, Barcelona and Milan show how the involvement of makers and designers is itself a seed of innovation in urban contexts. Social bootstrap of local processes can be generated only by the material commitment and public discussion in order to realise at best policies and local needs.
