the flyer to invite neighbours to the event on 10 Sep, to be stuffed in their real-life mailboxes
the leaflet to recruit new members to be handed out or left at strategic locations.
Both are now being designed in Canva by Angelika. Liesbet and Lee have been working on copy.
With Angelika leaving us, we’re looking for someone with Canva skills (and ideally a pro plan) to take over from her. She’s committed to finishing what she started and transfer the files. Who among us could handle this?
The copy and link to the Canva design sits in this document Login – Nextcloud (saved in Team External > Neighbours > Neighbours meeting 2025)
I reviewed the design that @Angelika produced and have some comments:
We should have the logo of The Reef on there
Although the copy that I provided was in English, the purpose is to have a bilingual Dutch-French version … (sorry I that was not clear …) Can we fit all the information on one side in Dutch and in French on the other?
@Angelika, do you still have time to do this while we look for someone to take this over from you? I can get Dutch and French translation to you by tomorrow 18h.
While I appreciate that we are in a bit of a hurry, I would rather wait for an answer from within team External so we can build the skillset and the capabilities in the team.
All good with me. If you want a reply from Team External, the easiest is if you tag them (@“reef-external”). This creates a notification, which makes it easier to retrieve messages, and it makes it clearer for those not concerned to whom the message is addressed.
Overall, as a rule of thumb, if you need someone’s attention, it is really recommended to tag them.
I have access to Canva Pro that I can use for design and a bit of experience using it. I’m happy to take over the tasks. I’m not a graphic design pro, so I might be slower, but I’m keen to learn. Would @AlinT and @Fionagui be able to assist if I need help ?
I find it a bit redundant to have the practical info ( time, location, adress ) on both side of the paper - we can make room for the bilingua lversion. Oh, maybe it is a work in progress transaltion version.
I think it’s clearer for the readers to have one language per side (FR front / NL back), rather than mixing them.
Not urgent but important: where do I get the impression that The Reef’s color is kinda turquoise ( rather than brown ) ? @Lee mentioned it once, is it correct ?
@Angelika Hey Angelika !Do you have time for the flyer ( invite to neighbors’ meeting )? If not, I should be able to do it at 12h noon, could you grant me access to edit ? Thank you !
If it’s the window frame’s you are referring to, they will indeed be “vert d’eau”. We are expecting a copy of the 3D renderings today or tomorrow. Not sure whether that’s relevant, but I figured I’d mention it.
@Wenwei the translations are available in the same document. Just scroll down. Login – Nextcloud (saved in Team External > Neighbours > Neighbours meeting 2025)
@alinT has availability tonight to help out, if need be. Thanks! Maybe you can at least review the French copy.
@reef-external The flyer that we’ll put in our neighbours’ mailboxes this weekend nears completion: Login – Nextcloud. Thank you @Wenwei and @AlinT for creating a very nice layout.
We’ll print on A5, recto-verso (NL/FR).
I have access to the Canva file and can make last-minute changes to the copy, right before printing. I believe the Dutch version still sounds a bit clunky. Could anyone have a look? Best to leave your comments in this document Login – Nextcloud, where we keep a log of how the flyer came into being.
Also, the QR code leads to a form that still needs some work, as indicated by Wenwei.
Who can edit this form?
[And Wenwei agreed to design the leaflet for recruitment in the same style. Yes! Let’s keep the same workflow. @Liesbet has been refining the copy based on comments received. We are awaiting the 3D renderings from the architects]
Here is a post concerning the new leadlet for recruitment:
As I didn’t attend the strategic meeting on Sunday where the decision to go with a bifold leaflet was made, I went with the flow and didn’t raise the question, and in hindsight, I should have ! Could someone briefly explain the logic behind making a bifold brochure ( instead of a doublesided A5 or a A4 poster ? ) My brain needs a bit more logic behind it for the design.
I read this newsletter shared by Lee in her comment on leaflet here . I personally find it very clear, and it speaks to me. It includes a “tagline” ( village within the city ), values , “assets” and call to action. What is the reasoning behind a complete new copy ?
The decision to make it a bifold is, as far as I remember, an old one. We wanted to try something that is more luxurious and in line with what real-estate agencies might offer. We would also print on thicker paper. Having a bifold would also allow for some more information/illustrations.
