Flyers dropping

So I shared the maps on flyers dropping mission on signal, and then realised I didn’t have much of a plan for it…

I’m worried that if we all start adding things without some organisation it might get very messy…
Maybe what I’ll do is a systematic search on bioshops, bookshops, yoga studios, bike shops and cinemas/theaters/cultural centers, as well as the places that joke suggested for kids friendly cafes.
If somebody has more ideas, maybe I share the map with you and you also do it systematically?

My idea would be to prioritise “hubs” like EU neighbourhood, flagey, Bailly… And then in Jette I guess mainly Mirroir and gare de jette?
Any other suggestions?

I’m really happy for team external to take this out of my hands, I am just trying to get some momentum going following up on the mentions made on the brainstorming post…
But I’m also happy to have somebody else deal with it!

I’m not sure whether my two cents are welcome, but I’ll do it anyway

I’m personnally not sure whether a map is the best data structure for an exercise like this.

Example: this afternoon I was at Lulu’s in Ixelles, and I found that the flyers I left there some months ago, where still there (which is rare).

So I was wondering whether maybe a good old Excel would not be more efficient. Possible columns could be:

  • Commune (for filtering)
  • Name of the place
  • Address (optional, sometimes this is obvious)
  • What it is (shop or bar - also often obvious)
  • When flyers were left
  • Who left them
  • Notes (e.g. flyers are (not) thrown away

As a small side note to everybody: my experience is that many places throw away all flyers on a regular basis, and also that pick up rates are relatively low. So to save money I would recommend to not leave more than 5.

Happy to get any two cents!

I see what you mean and what that would achieve, but I personnally don’t have the time, head space or drive to do it myself. The map is a lazy version of having some kind of a system that is also quite handy when you’re on the ground… It’s also quite easy to fill in through a simple google search.

So I’m personnally not going to invest into another system, but again I’m veeeery happy for anybody else to jump in on it!

Also just for context, my initial aim was just to make it easier for ourselves to know where to go when we went out the first time (and we found that it helped).
The keeping track was secondary .

What we could do is keep a record of the areas that where covered on what day, that might be a simple way to get an idea of where we should go next…
And that I would be ready to take care of
