The dates for the Full Members dinners up until the summer are all on the Nextcloud calendar, so hopefully t everyone is aware that the next one will be 30 April (on a Wednesday evening).
When I was writing the Conflict Management 2.0 post the other day, I realised that the FM dinners are probably our biggest asset in terms of preventing moments of miscommunication and minor tensions turning into conflict. And at the recent Full Members coordinator review (during the plenary of 5 April), a number of people mentioned how important that they felt these dinners to be in terms of maintaining our group dynamic and building our connection to both the project and each other. It was also noted that these dinners can be re-envisioned now that fewer decisions need to be made in this format.
Which brings me to two key points: 1/ that we need to prioritise being at them; and 2/ that we need to collectively take responsibility for using them wisely.
To the practicalities… the venue is yet to be decided, and I am open to suggestions. The dinner itself can be provided, ordered in or potluck, depending on the inclinations of the host. Let’s get an idea about numbers:
- Yes, I’ll be there on the 30th
- Sorry, can’t make it this time
Finally, I intend to write the follow-up to the FM coordinator review between now and then, as a “platform” for thinking about what we want to get from these moments together moving forward…
