I am starting a new post on a possible event about the added value of cohousing in general. It builds on what has been discussed in:
Giving the idea some thought, I put in a search for a movie on cohousing. What I found is “The Best of Two Worlds”, a 26 minute “documentary” about cohousings in the US, centered around an architect called Charles Durrett (I have his book “Creating Cohousing” on my shelve). (I put documentary between brackets because it’s really mostly a promotional video)
The context is of course American, which means they have much more space (including for a gigantic swimming pool), but overall I find it ticks all the right boxes: advantages for families with children, for introverts, for elderly people, financial advantages, ecological stuff, the community life.
So here’s an idea: how about we organise an evening about cohousing in general?
Not pushing my views, but here’s some possible ideas:
-
Show the documentary
-
Invite some of our friends who already live in a cohousing for a testimonial
-
Possibly add a testimonial of our own
-
Possibly invite someone from Volta XL
-
Make a gigantic pot of lentil soup, so people don’t have to rush for food but instead instantly get the community food vibe
-
Use the usual platforms that we have for promotion (Samenhuizen, Facebook, Meetup etc) and possibly print a basic flyer just about the event
What think you @reef-external?
