Habitat & Participation - Summer in Brussels 2026 - Speed Dating 17 June

Good morning,
@reef-recruitment @reef-external @Lee
Via my personal email, I received the newsletter of H&P about their summer programme around co-housing.

  • On 17th June, they are organizing their speed-dating night. I read the previous threads on this topic and I understand that the public is not necessarily the one that is most knowledgeable about cohousing, but since we are aiming for 2 to 4 households, this is for me one channel as good as any other one at this point. So I would like to write to H&P to ask to have someone from The Reef going there. I am free on the 17th and could go, if there is somebody else that would like to attend so we can make more headway ?
  • The apero-visite : if I recall correctly, on last year’s edition we had coincided our presentation with H&P apero-visite. This year, our already scheduled presentations (9 June 30 June 14 July) are not matching H&P dates.
    = > do we want to do that again this year ? How did we go about it the last time?

Best,
Lucia :ocean:

Hi Lucia,

Thanks for taking this up.

  • For the speed-dating: based on experience one person is really enough, so if you could go that would be wonderful.

  • For the apéro-visites: I’d leave this to the HC Outreach, but if a decision would need to be taken fast, how about we ask for the 09/07 date and we figure out later how we approach it? Could be as simple as a potluck on the site?

@LuciaM Hi Lucia,

I have been in touch with Audrey from H&P about the speed-dating night. I spoke on the phone with her last Friday and she told me that she will send me all the details about the speed-dating by email. She already took note that we would like to attend that event. Unfortunately, I have to work during that evening. Otherwise, I would have come with you. Once I get all the information in writing, I will forward them to you.

Hi everyone,
A quick feedback on this event.
11 projects where scheduled to present themselves, 9 actually were there :
Biplan (from Haren), Charel&Co (Strombeek), Ernest Living Cohousing (Koekelberg location), WoonCoop - Brasserie Aerts, La communauté Montagne Saint Job (Uccle), Val de l’être (near Dinant), Volta XL, Le Terrier du beau vallon (Wepion).

The room was full and H&P said there were about 30 registrations.

After the presentations, each project sat at a table and talked for about 15 minutes with people that wanted to ask more questions. We had about 1h30 for this part

In the time, we had 5 people that approached us :

  • 3 people that had previously attended a presentation, 1 in 2024 and 2 this year in February. All interested in the 1BR and we gave as much information as possible with regards to plans and pricing model (ping @Chantale for info). The person from 2024 said she would first do a simulation, but it seems that her financials were pretty tight. I followed up on the other two yesterday evening to invite them to become exploring member - one of them wrote back today to say that the unit would be to expensive, waiting on the second one still.
  • 1 person that continuously tries to come to our presentations, but her family commitments always keep her from actually attending one - she even had to leave the speed dating - will try to contact her to see about a 1-on-1.
  • 1 person that discovered the project and was interested in the international aspect - will see if he comes at one of the presentations.

For future reference, the ppt (in FR) we presented is available here : Login – Nextcloud.

We had plans and prices (but only discussed them only with people that already attended the presentations), flyers (not too many distributed though), and chocolates.

Thank you @Liesbet and @Odile for the work you put into making this happen.

Overall, I think it was a good outreach activity if nothing else, but to show the project is alive and going forward.
