How EU research proposals are evaluated

I learned something new about how EU research proposals are evaluated. However, it needs cross-validation.

  • They are each assessed by three independent evaluators.
  • The evaluators receive nothing but the call text. There is no additional document (grids, etc).
  • It follows that, for left-of-center projects like the ones ER tends to produce, the better strategy is to go for the calls with the biggest budgets, and try to be “the odd project that gets included for diversity value”.
