Mapping our way to a global vision of positive change

Wonder if it is getting messed up through this app

<iframe src=“http://www.communitywalk.com/groups/set_commercial_domain/1475601” onload=“if (this.src.indexOf(‘http://www.communitywalk.com/view/1475601’) == -1) this.src=‘http://www.communitywalk.com/view/1475601’ + location.hash” width=“800” height=“600” frameborder=“0” name=“ff_cw_1475601” id=“ff_cw_1475601” scrolling=“no”></iframe><a href=“http://www.communitywalk.com/citizensforchange” style=‘display:none’>CommunityWalk Map - Citizens in The Lab</a><img src=‘http://www.communitywalk.com/images/blank.gif’ onload=“setTimeout(function() {document.getElementById(‘ff_cw_1475601’).onload()}, 100)” />

If you can’t get this HTML code to work do you want to give me temporary access to where you’re trying to add it?

Please note this is HTML, not plain text, so that could be the problem with how you’re adding it.

building

Here it is, still under construction though :) http://edgeryders.ppa.coe.int/page/edgeryders-world-map

off for some sleep, back on it tomorrow morning…

night!

Good night!

Looking like a great start Nadia!

Attempt #2

Hey John, I did some work on the page today. The embed code you gave me when pasted turns out funny on the page…as it’s not only the actual map, but also the text on the side that is embedded. I tried as a dummy to set up a google map and embed it and that seems to work, so it’s something about the communitymap embed code. Any idea what the problem might be?

Use this code instead

Nadia,

Here is the embed code you should use :

<iframe id=“ff_cw_1475601” name=“ff_cw_1475601” width=“950” height=“950” onload=“if (this.src.indexOf(‘http://www.communitywalk.com/commercial/1475601’) == -1) this.src=‘http://www.communitywalk.com/commercial/1475601’ + location.hash” src=“http://www.communitywalk.com/groups/set_commercial_domain/1475601” frameborder=“0” scrolling=“no”></iframe> <a style=“display: none;” href=“http://www.communitywalk.com/citizensforchange”>CommunityWalk Map - Citizens in The Lab</a><img onload=“setTimeout(function() {document.getElementById(‘ff_cw_1475601’).onload()}, 100)” src=“http://www.communitywalk.com/images/blank.gif” /></p>

Modify the height and width values as needed to fit properly on your page.

Woo-oou!

Hello,

Just a few words to say that I celebrated last night! Woo-oou! I felt joy when I read that TheMap project is being integrated to the Edgeryders platform. Thanks Edgeryders team.

It is perhaps not 100% perfect (ie I’m still struggling with many components and there is so much more data I would like to include), but this project comes from the heart, and participants contributed some of their time, whenever possible.

I will definitely be really proud to show this project as an example of an idea that was not initially planned as part of a project, but along the way, there was listening, and there was flexibility from the managers. In the end, everyone is doing its best to make this project work and be successful. There is collaboration, but most importantly, every participant will have the opportunity to shine and place himself/herself on the map. Priceless!

A concrete example to show to government officials, of an unexpected idea worked by citizens, incorporated into a larger project.

What’s still missing

Hey Lyne, glad the thread made you happy :slight_smile:

Can I ask you to have a look at the Edgeryders page we have  set up and point out things that need to be imprved or done better? I feel like something is missing, e.g:

  1. Why it’s a good idea to help build it - what’s in it for me as a contributor?

  2. Ability for it to be spread further ( with an embeddable map we could even maybe have people embed the map on their own site and ask their respective communities to contribute to it)

  3. I tried to sign up for community walk but I agree it’s a bit tricky to use. And even though I’m sometimes logged in, I can’t seem to get to the code snippets. It seems to be based on a google map and so we should be able to access the map directly and make inputting date easier for those interested…no? Maybe John knows?
