Mz Baltazar’s Laboratory emerged from group of females feeling vexed by male dominated technology and hackerspaces. Each of them convinced there was need for a more inclusive setting, an environment that its founders would feel comfortable making and that they could share with others. This hackerspace is preserved for females and trans people from all different backgrounds, ages and mindsets. A core team of five people support the rent and produce weekly events where participants share skills, exchange equipment and play with DIY electonics. They aim to demystify technology, make hacker-spaces more inclusive, promote a DIY culture as well as open source software and hardware. Mz Baltazar’s Laboratory is driving forward hacking as a way for the masses to articulate themselves and be more creative, all the time engaging more females, and hard to reach social groups.
