New Stammtisch schedule: always on the 1st of the month

Hi @reeflings,

Team Community Life has made an adjustment to the Stammtisch gatherings. We’ve decided to change the concept slightly because we think varying dates were confusing and hard to remember. From now on, our Stammtisch will always take place on the first day of the month, even if it falls on a weekend.

For now, we’ll continue meeting at 18:30 at De Walvis. The location may change in the future if it would turn out better to organize elsewhere.

Our next Stammtisch is scheduled for Friday, August 1st at 18:30 at De Walvis. Please fill in the poll to see who can come. I won’t be able to attend on August 1st myself and the rest of team Community Life is on leave too. Would someone be willing to take the lead for that evening? This mainly means reminding people on the day itself or cancelling if the poll would indicate that nobody could attend.

Thanks a lot Team Community Life! As I have indicated elsewhere, this kind of planning greatly helps with managing my calendar, and I greatly enjoy the ease that it brings, so great move as far as I’m concerned!

As for the venue: being a little neurodiverse, I’m afraid that De Walvis is too difficult for me. Last time I could barely hear the person sitting next to me (let alone people at the other side of the table), and when I came home I was completely overstimulated.

Can it be an option to change bars every so often, to also cater for people who’s brains are wired a bit differently?

Some suggestions:

  • Brasserie 1898 (right off the Schuman roundabout): very calm, possibility to eat something

  • Wasbar (Bourse): usually also very calm, also possible to eat something

  • Boom Café (Saint-Géry): no snacks here, but really a very nice anarchist cooperative bar (run by volunteers, so important to check that it’s open)

  • Brew Dog (Central Station): usually quite calm (except on Thursdays), possibility to eat something, and possibility to book some tables or even a corner.

Thanks Lee for the suggestions. I have been to Boom café and I really Iiked it! So maybe next Stammtisch could be there, or in one of the other places that you suggested.
@Liesbet, looking at the poll, let’s cancel this week’s Stammtisch and have another try in one month :slight_smile:
