Options to get in more sunlight and daylight

I got carried away when I was researching how to increase sunlight and daylight. I found a couple of things that could be interesting for many people, so I figured I’d make a little post.

Light tunnels

For those living under a roof, I am almost sure it will be possible to get one or more light tunnels as an option. We have seen one of those in an apartment in l’Echappée, in the middle bit between the living room and the bedrooms. I found it quite beautiful. Below a picture from Google.

Light shelves

A second option are light shelves. These are are flat sheets usually made from frosted glass that refract some of the daylight streaming into a room to bounce off the ceiling to reach deeper into the room. They provide a triple win: less glaring close to the window (comfort), more daylight deep into the room (beauty) and a reduced need for electric lighting (sustainability). Balcony reflectors

A final option could balcony reflectors, which are mostly some sort of mirror that you put on your balcony to draw in some sunlight that is pointing the other way. Below a picture from the internet.
