Hope you all had a relaxing time the last few weeks…
But now, back to work (slowly)
Our next public presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13th. It will be our first try out at Joannes’ to give a presentation. So far we have only have 4 registrations, but still 10 days to go…
in which room will it take place? I guess no need to bring to projector or beamer to yours?
is there a way to heat up water to make tea?
Please help spread the word by sharing our posts on social media. For those helping with flyers, we have this handy document to help us track where they are being distributed.
Beyond the tasks, these presentations are a great occasion for us to meet, have a drink, and catch up with each other and potential new members.
I’m launching a poll now to see who will be able to attend. Hope to see you all there!
I personally am not feeling like moving the maquette to Joannes place.
The last time I took it from Odile’s to Brutopia, I discovered it is not really wind/water proof. And taking the car at peak hour to drive in the center of Bxl’s is not something I am keen on doing either.
A proposition is to take pictures from the maquette (if we don’t have enough of them) and show them on a pc.
I also remembered Lee making the remark of it being it an added value to have the presentation at a cohousing, maybe we can play pictures of other cohousings/ our Reef pictures on a pc like we did at the samenhuizen Trefdag?
With respect, but the idea that there is some magic in having the presentation in a cohousing was repeated by the two Exploring Members. To me personally, having the maquette on hand adds to that magic. So if it’s not in a cohousing and there is no real maquette that people can touch and photograph, I’m not quite sure any more what the added value is of going elsewhere. Might as well do an online presentation? Or, when numbers are this low, just revert to the one-on-ones already?
if the numbers stay that low, we (R&O) will either move it online or cancel it as a whole, but we think it’s a bit too early to make this call today
The added values to do it at Joannes’ were:
easy to cancel last minute without any hastle which is more likely to happen in the future than it was in the past
logistic wise: we could leave most of our stuff at Joannes’, no beamer to move,…
it’s a central location, right near the metro
Concerning the magic. it’s true that it adds to the magic , but i don’t agree there is no magic left any more.
My opinion: our 2 strong magic elements are ‘our project’ and ‘our group’. Passing on The Reef vibe while talking to people after/before the presentation, ignite the cohousing dream is for me the most important. In an online meeting, you don’t have the socializing part. If you can do that around a maquette it’s a plus but without it, definately still worthwhile according to me.
one of the two exploring members went to the presentation in the Spiegel, where i guess the presentation was given in their common space. Salle miro isn’t really part of the cohousing, it - for me - doesn’t pass a cohousing vibe., and at this time of the year it’s dark when the presentations are given, so you cannot really. see the units/cohousing accross the garden.
I am not against the maquette, i just fear for damaging it and the hours stressing in trafic to get it and bringing it back… If somebody else is willing to go and get it and bring it back, no problem for me.
I was thinking of making a second maquette that we could leave at joannes’, but first I would like to know where we go with the plans in the coming weeks, before doing that.
But that’s my opinion. As you are the one putting a lot of energy in this, i than understand that - even though there would be a reasonable amount of registrations and the maquette wouldn’t be present- you would prefer it to be online? Correct?
As long as we can do a review afterwards, I’m happy to show up and give the presentation, and leave everything else to Team R&O to decide. My concern is that we are losing all the magic we have right now - the fact of being in Brutopia (i.e. seeing the s+f style, being able to peek into the garden, picture a common space etc), the possibility to stare at the maquette from all possible angles (and make pictures of it) plus hanging around at the bar - but then you could also argue that we did manage to recruit a couple of members through an online presentation, which has close to no magic, so there is also that. Let’s try it out and do a review?
That being said, it’s Day-2 and there are only 10 registrations, of which only one for a 3BR. Given that we have a show-up rate of about 40-50%, that seems like a lot of time and effort for probably not a lot of results, so I would personally prefer an online presentation. @reef-recruitment can you please make a decision?
Hey Lee, I just wanted to respond, as I only attended the online presentation myself, and I think Gaultier would agree. The online one was also magical
Just thinking out loud: Would it be useful / interesting to record a presentation and upload it on Youtube ? It can be set as unlisted, meaning that it would not be indexed on Youtube but anyone who has the link is able to access it.
In Volta they have a similar system. I ran away shrieking after watching it for less than 5 minutes. In terms of magic (where this time I was on the listening end) this was really a negative experience (bad sound, not interested in the interaction with the other people etc).
