Setting the budget for the garden

Hi @reeflings !

It has been pointed out that I should have started a thread for the proposal regarding setting the budget for the garden, which is undoubtedly true. So as I have some things to say about this proposal, here is the thread, better late than never

The proposal can be found here: Login – Nextcloud

The overall figure suggested to budget for the garden has changed since I posted it in the plenary thread yesterday, and it may change again tomorrow after a bit of research into climbing plants (if I have time). The main point that I want to make is that this is not a proposal to increase a budget that already existed, although I myself have made the mistake of referring to it in this way. The price per square meter that we have been working with did not include a budget for the garden (@els and @Lee - correct me if I’m wrong here). I don’t know why this is, and perhaps we could have a group discussion about how many other things fall into this category.

Regardless, we now need to set a budget for the garden, and this figure has so far variously been 10,000 euros, 0 euros, 5,000 euros and 7,150 euros. The last figure is the current one with regard to the proposal in question, and may change between now and the plenary (as noted above). It may also change during the plenary, to cater for any concerns and/or objections.

Some of you have already engaged with the proposal within the document:

@Sarah and @els - I have replied to your comments

@Lee - I have adjusted the proposal in line with your comment and the conversation we had about it on Signal. In doing so, the comment itself disappeared. I’m sure it is there somewhere, but I don’t know how to find it…

The finishings of the garden are not included, because they are not the responsibility of the architects. This is how construction budgets work.

For an overview on the cost items that were not included in the feasibility study, you need to look at the “simplified budget” file:

  • Tab 1 “casco”: there is a coloured category on the right “costs we choose to add” and another one “costs we must add”

  • Tab 2 “total costs”: here you see that we added a budget for the finishings of the garden, and also a couple of envelopes for collective administrative costs.

Team Building and I have put a lot of effort in completing the budget, and the result is the simplified budget file. In an ideal world there should now no longer be any surprises. In case there would be, there is still the envelope with the mark-up money.
