Samenhuizen has asked us if we would be interested to participate in their ‘Summer in BXL’ series that they organize together with H&P, just like last year. The idea is that they visit residential communities in Brussels or its immediate surroundings every Thursday, ‘after work’ (i.e. between 5pm and 7pm). The visits are small-scale, they expect 5 to 15 participants each time.
=> We arranged with them that @Lee will give a presentation on 3 July@Miro (Brutopia). The room is already booked. Samenhuizen asks if we could provide them with a short introduction (max. 5 sentences) of our project to use in the invitation on the websites of H&P and Samenhuizen? A suitable photo would be welcome. Could @reef-external follow up on this?
As a part of the same ‘Summer in BXL’ series, they are organizing a speed date event on Thursday 30/07 and Thursday 28/08. The idea is that 4 cohousing communities (based in Brussels) that are still looking for new residents briefly introduce themselves, followed by a speed date with the attendees. Last year, this was a great success with over 20 participants. They ask if we would be interested in joining this as well? I was wondering if @reef-external would also be willing to follow this up? The mail is in the inbox (you can reply in English).
I have received a reminder from Samenhuizen to provide a text for the presentation on 3 July and I have just done it. So no more action needed from your side. They will also do the publicity of this event on their own channels (Samenhuizen & Habitat et Participation). We still need to promote it through our channels. As described above: the concept is a bit different: starts at 17:30 and they provide some drinks and nibbles.
However, they also asked me again if we would participate in the speed date event, and I didn’t have the answer. @reef-external could you please follow up on this (you can reply to their mail in English)?
For the speed-dating event I would recommend @reef-external to ask @Sophie_B about her experience of the “great success”, and in function of that possibly confirm with Samenhuizen whether their participants are interested in a cohousing or a coloc. I myself went to one of these speeddating events as a presenter some years ago, and I found it a waste of time because most people were looking for a coloc, not a cohousing.
Indeed, I went to two of those events last year (or the year before last) and the people there even didn’t know what cohousing was, were looking for social housing, wanted to move in immediately or had lofty ideas about a lot of space/sheep etc. - sadly.
