Temporary account on Nextcloud

Hello @reefling, just to let you know I will be creating a temporary Nextcloud account to test a workflow involving Obsidian and Nextcloud.

  • This account will not be given access to The Reef shared folder.
  • We are approaching the limit of our 50 users: 41 Reeflings, François, three service accounts rarely used and which could easily be deleted. All it takes is a successful presentation and we will max out. We will cross that bridge when we find it, anyway I stand ready to delete the test account.

Hi @alberto @reef-it (cc @reef-recruitement).
I have just created our 50th account on NextCloud.
Our next presentation is scheduled for the 7th, between now and then at the latest, can we free up some slots ? or add new ones by upgrading ?
I suppose that we can also create one NextCloud/household in the Exploring phase, to avoid using quickly any ones you might free up.

Hello! I freed up two accounts that no one was using. We could fairly easily free a couple more: we have two for Stekke and Fraas and one for Marc, plus the extra one I created for my tests. But that’s it. The main source of free accounts from now on is going to be people that leave. When is the next wave of exploring members going to expire?

Unfortunately upgrading is a bad option. There are many possible upgrades, but most of them do not give you more accounts (you add storage space and some services). To get 100 accounts you need to upgrade to a Business plan that costs over 700 EUR per year, so 10x what we pay today. So this is a bit of a fix: the current solution is very convenient for the Reef in its final incarnation (about 30 adults and 10 children, with 10 accounts to spare) but now we are getting tight.

We could of course look for a different Nextcloud provider with different offers. But migrating all our files comes with the risk of losing data, broken links etc,

This is a good idea and I would implement it.

i think that 50 users is enough for us. and by the way it’s really cheap for what we pay.
