The rise of the citizen expert

From social innovation to policy making in a networked society

With the World We Want process and the My World survey, UNDP have engaged over 3 million people to define what they need to improve their future. However, they want to do more. An ever better educated, smarter, more connected citizenry can now give expert advice to policy makers, and even help enact public policy in some cases. We reflect on these new opportunities for policy makers, in the context of a recent project run by UNDP in Armenia, Egypt and Georgia.

The workshop is delivered by Alberto Cottica and Vinay Gupta, both with Edgeryders. Alberto is a network scientist, public policy expert and open data activist; Vinay is a global risk management expert and resilience scholar.
