Understanding the compromis creusé

Calling @reef-finance and @reef-building! I have tried searching the web to better understand the institution of compromis creusé that our notary was telling us about. To my surprise, I drew a blank.

Can anyone help me?

@alberto I never heard about it.

Hi @alberto , I think it is compromis croisé. I found this article for example: Les options croisées et l’urbanisme | Carnet de route en droit immobilier

Thanks @Lea. The links that I could find are not even about the compromis croisé, but about the option croisée. I could not find an explanation “for dummies”, it seems what I used to call “compromis” tout court.

In my understanding, the “option croisée” is the agreement between buyer and seller, with a “condition suspensive” for both parties. It can be made official in a document that is called “compromis”. Here’s a website where you can find a template: Immobilier - Notaire.be
