Belarus

Hello all, i’m also interested in the position in Belarus. Should i also answer the questions, i guess?

By the way, are you looking for people from Ukraine? (or maybe i haven’t noticed the post…) i could send information to some partners - should it be Kiev only, or other cities are ok, too?

My best regards,

Yuliya

Belarus + Ukraine

Yes, @yuliya.stankevich, you should answer the same questions. And yes, we are hiring someone from Ukraine too, and no, the person does not have to be Kiev-based. The only issue is: when I visit Ukraine I will spend 3 days in Kiev, and I will need the person who takes this job to accompany me. You are absolutely welcome to forward this post to people you know in Ukraine!

Thanks, Alberto. I have told my colleague from Ukraine, but right at these days she’s busy running a training, in the middle of it…

Dear Alberto,

I have just applied for the support from Ukraine, so I will be more than happy to help you out, and introduce to people, if needed etc. I have written to Nadia, and here in general, for more info.

thanks!!

Hello @monarezk, thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately this project is already starting! But hopefully we can meet up anyway in Cairo. We’ll be there in early June.

Never mind , Waiting you at Cairo

Hi @Alberto  , it’s my bad luck not to be a part of this project . But on the other side I’ll be happy meeting you at Cairo & I can help  .

Hello from Tbilisi!

Hi! I’m Masha from Georgia. Im in love with the Edgeryders community since I’ve met its members in Tbilisi in 2014. Since that I’ve been thinking  how can I benefit my skills (organizing various events, project management, marketing) to such an amazing community  . So I came up with an idea to sign up and  convert my ideas into something real and make a difference in terms of social innovations.

Hello back

Great stuff, @Masha. Looking forward to meeting you next time in Tbilisi.

Ukraine is here )

Dear organizers,

very interesting and exciting initiative! I am thrilled to provide an impact and some valuable input to the formation of program data

As an active NGO participant, social trainer, entrepreneur, journalist and just an active citizen, I found it important to provide opportunities, chances to those starting their initiatives, that are engaging into projects, that step by step will input the world in general. It’s so inspiring to be heard, supported and receive new motivation and foundation for further beginnings.

With a political instability and war condition in Ukraine, politicians are now under the loop of the society here now. Many young, open minded people are taking positions in the government, presidential office etc. They provide new public policy approaches, proufound knowledge of modern economy etc. This is one of the biggest results of EuroMaidan, movement that initially was mainly supported by young active Ukrainians, who were opposing pro-Russian directions of the previous government and it’s corruption alongside of usurpation of power. These were young people who were afterwards defending human rights and democratic future of Ukraine, and with their own courage and involvement have changed the total course of action and future for the Ukrainian country. Pleads to hear them, recorded online, were one of the biggest moving forces for the world to understand what were people standing for in the center of Ukraine’s capital. Such documentary initiatives were shown to world leaders, were spread out on Youtube. As a journalist, and media producer I was involved at all stages of Maidan, documenting, twittering, helping foreign media to cover Maidan inside profound stories that have shown major problems in the society, and in general volunteering, to support Maidan civic movement, medical facilities etc.

As well networked, professional PR and media specialist, my recent achievement is to use my knowledge and skills to start media initiative, a story production agency, that is providing profound, well researched, and fact checked information, life stories about Ukraine for the world media community. In addition we are working on social videos, social stories, documentary films/programs etc.

Furthermore, I am involved in social start up incubator that provides support for those who are starting their own creative, useful projects, teaching media coverage skills, personal skills etc.

I was involved in a lot of social projects, through various NGO and initiatives, starting from 14 years old, and I would love to describe more of my experience and knowledge in the personal email.

thank you and hopefully to be helpful and supporting!

Sincerely Natalie

Dear Nadia,

some interesting cases from Ukraine (would be updated further more)

  1. Maidan Press Center

an NGO, that aims to give press conference platform for NGO sector, social activists, volunteer groups (the number is quite big now in Ukraine, due to the war conditions (contacts can be send further, and their description too). It’s not supported by the goverment, and present an alternative platform opposed to the Ukrainian Crises Media Center, whose mostly presenting govermental officials, and supported NGO initiatives by various donors, and goverment in particular.

2. Could tell me, what’s your idea to use social media to engage people in this online platform - first to bring them here, and them make them use it on a longer term? How do you make connections with people most effectively in your country? (We know people are used to face to face meetings, but we still want them to use this online platform for dialogue). - See more at: https://edgeryders.eu/en/comment/17099#comment-17099

2.  As to the people’s engagement within the platform, good ideas would be to create webinars and video conferences with follow up discussions. Would be great to establish social media groups and great interesting cases forwarded via posts within the social media community. Good idea is to make some short video as to the projects and enhance discussions (a la kickstarter page, with description of the project, some videos of the projects, some video conferences for those interested to partner, contribute or being involved. Good enough would be to establish separate section that will include news, interesting articles and reports or researchers on social programs, activities or enhancement of needed skills, expertise for the social project development. It can be a separate media project for social projects functions, skills, news within the platform (with interesting video reports, video/online text discussions etc

I would be happy to discuss these ideas and more via skype and email. Mine is: nataliegryvnyak, and email nataliegryvnyak@gmail.com. My phone is 0503310124

Would be excited to introduce you various Ukrainian initiatives, and attract fascinating people throughout many countries, as well as support the project with new enhancement ideas to keep the platform up as a potential social projects incubator, lobby opportunity for those seeking to speak up and create something.

Sincerely Natalie

Welcome!

Hi Natalie, nice to meet you! I’m Noemi, also part of the project team, mostly to research countries socio-political contexts that would be helpful to the programme we will be designing together.

Very interesting links, thank you for sharing!  The IDP videos have English subtitles, excellent. Sob stories unfortunately, but tell me, what happens after people are interviewed? Where does the information go, are resources mobilized to help?

Dear Noemi, it’s a pleasure to meet you too! You are welcome, these were first projects to pop up in my head ). Yes indeed, these life stories are full of challenges and pain. In general conflict is not a great thing to have, even though it’s a good twist of change and push in other directions. These videos were aired on several thematical programs on IDP, all necessities and needs of people were given to organizations that were dealing with financial, material support for IDPs. These people are being checked upon, and there are plans of the second wave of investigation - one year after, since a lot of things have changed. And it will indeed portray the whole picture of the development of the conflict and situation in Ukraine (many return back, due to economic hardships in Ukraine, even though in occupied territories, economic conditions are even worse. Many launched their own initiative and totally changed their professions and life course. Some were disappointed in Ukrainian realities, some on contrary, became an active volunteer/journalist etc. Plus opinion of the situation has been changed in minds of Ukrainians in some cases. So it’s good to trace, plus how well the dialog has been established ))

Morocco Engagement Manager

Hi everyone,

It was great to be introduced to the project this morning via the Skype conference, I feel that I have learnt a lot already and there is a lot more to come.

In terms of my background and experiences, I have a Masters in Civil Engineering but have been interested in gaining experience with people internationally so since graduating have spent travelling, working with NGOs in different countries, and have now been living in Marrakech teaching English for almost a year.

For 4 years I worked in England with an organisation called Engineers Without Borders UK: they are a student-led, youth organisation focusing on international partnerships to change engineering education for sustainable outcomes. I live by their motto of ‘Massive Small Change’.

In response to the 2 questions posed:

  1. I already have connections with many community organisations in Morocco who are working to ensure sustainable growth. I will work on finding the best examples to share their work within the peer group.

  2. In terms of bringing people to this online space, many of the organisations I know well here already focus on international collaboration and are keen to expand their reach online. By showing by example how effective this platform can be, then using other methods of social media to make a cohesive approach I would encourage the stakeholders to understand their own advantages of using this space.

I look forward to working with you all, and hope to hit the ground running in Morocco.

Welcome to the team. Do get in touch if you need any questions answered or so, we just wrapped up the Cairo visit! Good luck & Courage!

Interpreting Community Management Role

Mainly, I set a strategy for Helm’s social media and events that would take place in the cowork space.

For QafeerLabs, it was howto conduct community partnerships with other stakeholders like October cyclers.

And for Faselty, we’re connecting the stakeholders with each other to build a community of voluntary blood donors who would donate periodically, we almost have 3 cowork spaces, 4 student activities and 5 blood donation initiatives as our community partners.

PS: I came through the Wiki page and found that there’s something that’s exactly me by the definition of my friends which is “Connecting People” that’s what I do actually. And yes, the work as that I did is like what you’re doing in Edgeryders…

When you come back to Egypt, I’d like to take you in a  trip for all the cowork spaces I know…

Welcome Nadia is a nice thing When we build an open village in Jordan I will create a team of volunteers for the purposes of the work that is compatible with the United Nations program
