LOTE3 is Action Focused
Our time with one another is valuable but limited. - Living on the Edge conferences are a rare opportunity to come together and work in a highly focused way, in order to make the best of this moment of high intensity, it’s important that we document and structure the outcomes of each session. The unMonastery project and the building we’re housed in would have been in an impossibility without LOTE, we want to work together whilst we are here to create more projects like this - don’t underestimate what we can do together in a week.
One of the key outcomes for LOTE3 will be The unMonasterians Cookbook: recipes for bridging the gap between making a living and making meaning - in order to pull this together in a short timeframe, we need to document consistently and create tangible outcomes where possible.

Format and Approach:
The default responsibility for session documentation is on the session facilitator, this can though be delegated!
There are many things to gain from documentating something well; participation from those following lote3 online, participation from individuals that may have been in other sessions but ultimately it can lead from conversation and aha-moments shifting perspective, to documentation, to actionable tasks, to perspectives and tools that we can share.
We suggest the stand approach to this should be:
Step 1. Create a wiki for your session in the Making-LOTE3 project space at the beginning of your session (!important: Bare in mind that you want to save regularly so not to lose your work)
Step 2. Suggested of a wiki should contain: Your Key Questions / Summary / Outcomes from Session: what shifts in perspective have occurred? any aspect of the workshop approach worth mentioning? / Outcome tasks and actionable next steps / References Points and Similar Projects / Names and Contact details for those who will take responsibility for realising these tasks. Reasoning; for your own project you facilitate participation if there are clear tasks and responsibilities expressed - for those that use your outcomes as inspiration for their own projects, you facilitate adaptation to other contexts. In both cases, it is an effective call to action. This does not necessarily need to be text: explore the use of mindmaps, minivideos and audios (join Sam’s session!)
Step 3. Take photographs and tweet links to the session documentation, using the lote3 hashtag.

Everyone has their own preference for tools, in order to work effectively, it’s important to put as much on the platform as possible - and always link out from the platform to any external content.

Got a Real Project on Your Hands?
unMonastery grew from a single session at #LOTE1 - if you have a session and there’s a high energy and people want to take the project forward in a serious way (in the words of Bembo, if it “smells poetically correct”), these are our suggested steps to making it happen:
Step 1. - Create a standalone project on the EdgeRyders platform - Write a summary of your project or find another concise way of transmitting the essence in images/sound and a set of calls to actions for anyone that wants to join in.
Step 2. - Create a set of initial tasks in the project space and assign them to individuals.
Step 3. - Tweet with a link to your project and documentation page lote3 lote3
Step 4. - Establish community calls with a regular frequency, make them public and make sure the key facilitators always turn up - use these moments to discuss the project and delegate out tasks to those that turn up.
Step 5. - Actively recruit people by designing job roles, that people can take in the project
Step 6. - Leave enough space for those who join you to add to the original proposal
Step 6. - Take it in turns to write regular posts on the project space about progress, always include possible calls to actions and tasks.

Starting something new is a serious undertaking, it’s important to be committed and realistic about how you are going to build something - from past experience, one person is simply not enough as the key facilitator/point of contact, you need 2 people to make a pledge to carry the project, you then need a set of volunteers that can pitch in on specific tasks whenever they have time - fundamentally you need to be able to communicate the purpose of what you’re doing.

Formato e Metodo:
La responsabilità di documentare la sessione è del facilitatore della sessione, che può delegare questo ruolo.
Ci sono diverse cose che possono trarre vantaggio da una buona documentazione: chi partecipa a lote3 seguendolo online, quelle persone che erano in un’altra sessione, ma in definitiva la documentazione può portare dalla conversazione alla documentazione, a compiti eseguibili, a strumenti che tutti possiamo condividere.
Suggeriamo questo approccio standard:
Passaggio 1: All’inizio della vostra sessione, create un wiki per la vostra sessione nel Making-LOTE3 project space (! Attenzione, ricordatevi di salvare regolarmente per evitare di perdere il vostro lavoro)
Passaggio 2: La struttura suggerita del wiki dovrebbe contenere: Le tue Domande Chiave / Sommario / Risultati della Sessione / Compiti risultanti e prossimi passi eseguibili / Punti di Riferimento e Progetti simili / Nomi e informazioni di contatto di chi si è preso in carico la realizzazione di questi compiti. Motivazione: non può realizzarsi nulla se non ci sono compiti e responsabilità – questo approccio permette inoltre ad altri di essere coinvolti velocemente, è un’efficiente chiamata all’azione
Passaggio 3. Scattate fotografie e twittate link alla documentazione della sessione, usando l’hashtag lote3.
Passaggio 4. Prima di concludere la sessione, chiedete a tutti i partecipanti di compilare il modulo personale di documentazione [LINK TO FOLLOW]

unMonastery è nato da una singola sessione durante #LOTE1 – se sei responsabile di una sessione e/o c’è molta energia e persone disposte a portare avanti il progetto in modo serio (come dice Bembo, se “smells poetically correct” [intraducibile…, n.d.t], questi sono i passi che suggeriamo per renderlo possibile:
Passo n. 1: Crea un progetto autonomo nella piattaforma EdgeRyders – Scrivi una sintesi del tuo progetto e una serie di attività per chiunque voglia unirsi al progetto.
Passo n. 2: Crea una serie di compiti iniziali nello spazio del progetto e assegnali a singole persone.
Passo n. 3: Twitta un link al tuo progetto e alla pagina della documentazione lote3
Passo n. 4: Imposta delle teleconferenze settimanali (community calls), rendile pubbliche e verifica che siano presenti i facilitatori chiave – usa questi momenti per discutere del progetto e delegare i compiti a chi si rende disponibile.
Passo n. 5: Coinvolgi attivamente le persone costruendo ruoli lavorativi, che le persone possano assumere nel progetto.
Passo n. 6: A turno scrivete ei post nello spazio del progetto parlando dei progressi, includendo sempre possibili inviti a svolgere attività e compiti.
Passo n. 7: Pubblica uno schema organizzativo con i dettagli di contatto

Controlla i requisiti:
Far partire qualcosa di nuovo è una cosa seria, è importante impegnarsi ed essere realistici su come costruirai questa cosa – dalle esperienze passate, una persona semplicemente non è sufficiente come facilitatore chiave/punto di contatto, hai bisogno di almeno 2 persone per poter portare avanti il progetto, e poi ti serve un gruppo di volontari che possano seguire compiti specifici quando ne hanno il tempo – sostanzialmente devi essere capace di comunicare lo scopo di cosa stai facendo.
