Full Members dinner/meeting – May 2026

Hi @reef-full members !

Team Conflict Management is currently organising the Full Members dinner/meetings until a new Full Member coordinator is selected. Unsurprisingly, with the recent intensity of the reattribution decisions, there is a lot to talk about and process. There may be things that are better addressed in plenary meetings, or in private meetings (mediated or otherwise), but these FM meetings are a wonderful resource for coming together and making a space devoted to our group dynamic and collective well-being.

On practical note, there are currently two polls to reschedule the plenaries of the 15th and 25th, with possible dates stretching from the 13th to the 29th. So I’m going to set a poll for this coming weekend and the following Monday. This is obviously extremely short notice, but if enough people feel the need to come together sooner rather than later, this will be the opportunity to do so. If not, then once the plenary dates are settled for the rest of the month, we can launch a new poll.

So here we go:

  • Saturday 11–15h
  • Saturday 19–23h
  • Sunday 11–15h
  • Sunday 19–23h
  • Monday 19–23h
  • I can’t make any of those times

In terms of the venue and meal arrangement, to be decided if it goes ahead.

In terms of the agenda, it can be co-created on the day. However, if there is something specific you would like to address, please feel free to reach out to Team Conflict Management. If there is something specific you would like to address, but you prefer to do it later for whatever reason, rest assured that the intention is to regularly make spaces to do so over the next few months…

Thank you Chris!
I think it is indeed better to postpone this FM dinner, until more of us are available. We’ll launch a new poll when the dates of the next plenary meetings are set.

Ok @reef-full members… let’s try and get the next FM meal/meeting/connection happening !

I’m going to set a poll, and I strongly encourage everyone to be as generous as possible with their responses. There are lots of other things going on at the moment, some of which are also in the poll phase. But these FM meetings to maintain our group dynamic, especially during turbulent times, are essential for our collective wellbeing. For a more comprehensive take on why this is, see Lee’s recent post on the topic: Reinstating the Full Member dinners / deep connection moments and starting an evaluation of how we want to reshape them: a request

Here’s the poll:

  • Sunday 24 May – brunch/meeting (11h to 13h)
  • Sunday 24 May – dinner/meeting (19h to 23h)
  • Monday 25 May – dinner/meeting (19h to 23h)
  • Wednesday 27 May – dinner/meeting (19h to 23h)
  • Saturday 29 May – brunch/meeting (11h to 13h)
  • Saturday 29 May – dinner/meeting (19h to 23h)
  • Sunday 30 May – brunch/meeting (11h to 13h)
  • Sunday 30 May – dinner/meeting (19h to 23h)
  • Tuesday 2 June – dinner/meeting (19h to 23h)
  • Wednesday 3 June – dinner/meeting (19h to 23h)
  • Wednesday 4 June – dinner/meeting (19h to 23h)
  • Sorry, none of these dates work for me

Once we have a date fixed for getting these events happening again, Team Conflict Management will propose fixed dates every 6 weeks after that for the rest of the year, so that we can more easily plan ahead, rather than polling every time…

Hi @ChrisM , why is it that the dinner meetings take 4 hours where as the brunch meetings take only 2 hours? I find 11pm on a weekday too late…

Actually, that’s a mistake  I t should be 4 hours for both. Couple of hours for a meal and a couple of hours for a meeting…

I’m sure most people would agree. And in principle, we aim to not start late, wrap the meal up in good time and have a meeting that ends earlier than 11pm. Having said that, we don’t do as many of these as we should at the moment, so if we need the full hours, that will just have to be how it is, and if anyone needs to leave earlier (for whatever reason), so be it

I can’t change the poll now, so please note everyone that the brunch times are 11h to 15h (and not 11h to 13h) :folded_hands:

I agree, and I presume it’s past bedtime for quite some people in the group.

We tried this a couple of times, to leave the option to people to leave early, and it didn’t quite work IMHO. Either the meeting just didn’t go through, either a very intense conversation was ended without any closure, leaving those impacted quite puzzled.

Can it please be an option to honour the request to not the meetings too late (say past 10 pm?), and think of which strategies we can find to meet all needs? E.g. can it be an option for example to start the dinner at 6 pm, and just let people arrive when they can?

Can I be very straightforward and start a poll? Let’s gather everybody’s needs and possibilities.

  • I prefer 18h - 22h and can make it, even on a weekday
  • I prefer 18h - 22h but will probably be a bit later (please indicate below)
  • I prefer 18h - 22h but might have to skip a big part of the dinner
  • I prefer 19h - 23h
  • I don’t have a strong preference

If it is on a Wednesday, I will be arriving between 18h30/18h45, depending on where the dinner is.

If it’s a Wednesday I can only make it from 8pm. And on other days, it will depend what I do next, but I think most likely it would often be 6.30-7pm (but for the moment 6-7.30pm works)

If it’s on a Monday or Wednesday, I won’t be able to attend because I’ll be working at that time.

Dear @reef-full,

We will set the date of the Full Member dinner on the 3rd of June at 18h. I will put it in the Nextcloud agenda.

Action points:

  • Is there anyone who would like to host? @Joannes, you have such an ideal place to host, is it somehow possible (as a last resort) to have it at your place, even if you’re not there yourself?

  • @reef-communitylife, would one of you be able to team up with me to arrange the practicalities?

  • @reef-conflict will set the agenda. If anyone would like to contribute/suggest an item, please don’t hesitate to reach out (here or in a PM). The idea is to focus on the emotional process of the unit reattribution. Very open to suggestions/hesitations/doubts/fears.

  • @reef-facilitation can we count on you for facilitating? I am able to co-facilitate if needed. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thanks everyone, and enjoy the very sunny weekend :lemon:

Hello @Sterre and @reef-conflict,

@reef-facilitation is not at it’s strongest these days, and on top of that more than half of us are affected by the unit attribution story, but we can of course see what we can do and otherwise call for help.

To prepare for such a meeting however, we’d really need the agenda, so we can see a bit how to approach it. Could you please make it more concrete as soon as possible?

Hi @Sterre , if it’s on a weekday, I prefer from 7 - 10 pm.

Dear @reef-communitylife, can I team up with anyone of you to arrange the dinner-part (18h-20h)? Joannes can host us, even if he is not there. Potluck? Ordering pizza? Everyone brings one ingredient?

@reef-facilitation, we have a rough draft of the agenda, but we also thought it would make sense to co-create it on the spot. We’d like to start with a general round to see whether anyone brings up topics or needs that we could explore further. If no specific needs emerge during that round, we’ll move on to a second round focused on the unit attribution: how people experienced it, how it affected them, and how they felt within the group.

We have some ideas about appreciation and temperature checks that I can discuss with you. If you would prefer not to facilitate, let me know, then I can prepare myself.

@reef-communitylife @reef-facilitation

Not getting a lot of response on the last message, so I’m going ahead and suggest to order pizza.
@Lee this won’t fit your diet, but maybe you have another suggestion (not too far from Joannes’ place) where we can order takeaway-dinner?

  • Fine with pizza
  • I prefer potluck and can prepare something (please indicate below)
  • I’ll just bring my own food
  • Other: (please indicate below)

For facilitation, I will prepare to do it on my own if I don’t have a reaction by tomorrow night.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Hi Sterre,

It seems difficult to collect a reply from Team Facilitation, but from what I can see there is nobody available this time, either because they can’t make it, or because they were too involved in the unit attribution saga.

Hi @Sterre, sorry I didn’t reply to your message to the Community Life team. As it is still the first weeks of my cats at a new place, I’m not sure whether to come, as I don’t want to leave them on their own all day (I’m working) + in the evening (FM dinner). I could host up to six people, so if it’s just a small group, we could hold the meeting at my place (and order pizza). Otherwise, I’m afraid I’ll have to give it a miss this time. I hope you understand.

Hi Mieke, understandable! I think we are 9 people, so that might be too many for you. No worries, sorry to not have you there!
