New tri-lingual website

Our new website works like this:

  • https://thereef.brussels leads to a splash page (you may need to clear your cache), which contains only a title, the sketches of the architects and three buttons for the three languages. This splash page is not meant to be changed often, so it will not contain any information.

  • Clicking on the three buttons one is taken to webkit-based websites. Their content is controlled by topics here on the forum, specifically The Reef in English, The Reef en Français, and The Reef in het Nederlands,

  • To change the splash page, you will need to log in. URL and credentials are in the login credentials folder on Nextcloud.

Thanks to @Tinne , @SophieC and @AlinT for the translations.

Hi Alberto !
Just a small change for the front page : In french, it works better : Un nouvel habitat groupé instead of “un nouveau”… Thanks

Hi @alberto @SophieC @Tinne @AlinT , great work! I just checked the Dutch version and it looks good. I don’t want to impose anything, but there are some parts that I would translate less literally, so my question is if you would be open for some changes to make the text more fluent? I could do it if you want. Let me know!

Same for the french, in fact …

@mieke @SophieC both posts are wikis, click on the “Edit” button at the end of the post and edit at will, the site will update instant.

Sophie, I will update the landing page.

Yes, but The splash page is not to change “nouveau” by “nouvel” for the title.

It’s done. You may need to clear your cache.

I’ve made some edit to the french version. @SophieC I don’t know if you had gone through it already? Would you like me to point you to what I have changed ? Always good to be several brains and pairs of eyes …

I would like to include something about inclusivity and language, along the line “we pay attention to making sure everybody feels included at all times even if they strugle a bit more with english” under Why is english our common language. Thoughts?

Hello Sarah !

I was also adapting the text in French and so we did it in the same time ^^
And now we have two versions :stuck_out_tongue:

Could you send me or put here the changes you made? I will merge two versions

Sounds good to me but I would suggest to first finish to translate the texts in French and Dutch.

And only after, to introduce content changes, in the three versions for each language

Yes, agreed.
And we would need to make sure it"s an ok change to make anyway.

As for my changes, it’s way too late right now, can’t get into that!  And I don’t think I’ll get time before this weekend
Could we do it the other way round? Or maybe say the first one who has time tries to find what he or she has changed and let the other know or do the merging?

OK, let’s be efficient
I will start from the last version now online (which is the one with the changes you made) and I will integrate into it the changes I suggest
I will do it tomorrow, now I’m too tired :stuck_out_tongue:

And after this, @SophieC could have a last chek if possible for her?

Again: it’s a wiki. You can revert to previous versions, copy the text that you want to keep, revert back to the latest version and paste what you want into it.

The pencil icon gives you access to a screen where you can compare two versions:

Click on the “revert” button to go back to the previous version.

I tried but it seems it did not work (I pushed the button but nothing happened). Guess I’m too tired, I will try tomorrow

I’m now updating the French version

Done.
@Sarah, in plus of what you changed last time, I added some (minor) other changes.

@SophieC could you have a last check?

I think after this, we are OK for the moment ^^

Thanks Alin! And sorry for making this more difficult!

I find the translation of people’s mini bio quite difficult, and I wonder if we should have them validate it?
For instance for @alberto how to translate ex minor rockstar? Ex-rockstar pas trop connue? Ex-rock(star)?
For tinne I think “matheuse” was better (we say “matheux”, I don’t see why we can’t say “matheuse”, and I wonder if SophieC didn’t mean to actually spell conteuze et curieuze ?
And I find translating Book nerd or Train nerd quite hard… To me “nerd de train” sounds weird and I added “nerd fan de train”, but apparently you don’t like it? But maybe SophieC will weigh in on this!

Ah!!! I see she did! “accro aux trains” is actually pretty good!
