[Slides Presentation] Methods and tools for OpenCare community engagement

I enjoyed meeting you in real life

Thanks for your time, @Rune. I’m sorry if I was running all the time or with my head in different parts… !

I think what comes after the formal project itself depends on us, on those of us who want to make something of it. The OpenCare formal consortium does not have a mandate per se, so it comes down to community.

  • New partnerships in new projects using the OpenCare knowledge we are discovering - for example rallying to figure out alternative support for projects OpenInsulin independent of normal funding streams which may be deemed inadequate; sustainability solutions; policy making around selforganised refugee camps and championing the work of Aravella, Alex, Ybe and others interested in this topic.
  • New EC funded projects - Alberto wrote about this here.
  • Using the OpenCare community event next year to start wildly ambitious stuff. it's radically open right now, Natalia calls it PopUp Village.. so any ideas welcome :-) All these are from the top of my head now, but you see where this is going. it will be a matter of who wants to do something and then those passionate about building networks gravitating towards it. usually someone needs to take the initiative, there is no one in OpenCare qualified more than the rest to say what will happen next.. pure community fashion.

Why I’m personally hopeful:

  • To keep it short, there are precendents. As a community many of us were part of Edgeryders 1, a project like OpenCare funded by the EC and Council of Europe - what came out was the unMonastery, and Edgeryders as it is today - an organisation and new network based consultancy where the hope is more and more people can plug in and become swarm consultants, or set up shops using the brand etc. Lastly, in the not so far future and from some discussions here and there I would see us having a physical coworking/coliving community space.

I can’t begin to say how much work all of this took… that being the sum of many contributions and time spent rolling out with open ideas which didnt end up manifesting. The best I can say is that when there is true leadership is when I’ve seen things happening.

Makes sense?
