We have two problems. First, over the years our minimal website has acquired a lot of information and structure. The current version struggles to render 10 items in the main menu.
I addressed this problem by consolidating some top level menu items: “A self-managed project” into “About”, and “Follow us on social media” into “Contacts”. All the content is still there, but I have removed the menu items. We still have 8, which is a lot, but better than 10. While I was at it, I added pictures and mini-bios for Chantal, Alin and Lucia.
Edit the topic. Click inside the edit window, then select all the text inside of the first post in the topic and copy it.
Navigate to the topic corresponding to the live site. Edit it, then select all the text and replace it with the one you copied from the staging site. Save.
The same thing now needs to be done for the French and Dutch versions of the site.
Rebuilding and rationalizing the “available units” landing page.
Manuel created a landing page with information from the units still available, and warned me that it was no longer rendering. I now fixed that. The new version gets rid of some repetition and rationalizes the menu items to three:
@manuelpueyo I see that you have now updated the dates of the presentation on the live site. This means that this step is no longer correct:
Doing this will erase your new dates, of course. So, after that, we need to reinstate the new dates.
Can I suggest to make the changes as fast as possible, before we accumulate even more changes to consolidate. Will you do it, Manuel? Or do you want me to do it?
Thanks Alberto for explaining and making changes to the staging site! If I understood it correctly, any changes are first done on the staging website and then replicated on the main site. Right?
I copied-pasted the landing page link from the staging to main site. It appears fine now on the main site.
Also, the staging site does not have the notice of the presentation of July 3 (Manuel made the change after I had created and modified the staging site).
