FdCM is preparing the workshops with three high schools in Messina. Their specialisations are artistic, technical and psyco-social.

FdCM will prepare the installment of Witness in the immersive interactive room in their gallery
SCHOOLS
The idea is to include the kids (approx 90) in a process of co-creation based in the world of Witness, where their competences are put together in a design process on three fronts (eg. graphic, characters, story).
The goal of their participation is to come to a draft of their segment of Witness.
This is something we need to discuss and decide.
Concrete examples: starting from the images or wiki entries of the characters, they develop It further into a… story, new character to be included in the lore, new economic aspects, sceneries or illustrations, design patterns.
Michela is a teacher in one of these schools and her images/influence can be a great prompt for a workshop like that.
Important moments:
- 7 October - Introductory workshop with the schools (ER present - Alberto and I present the project in italian, Yudha possibly connects online)
- 10 October - second schools’ workshop - working session (ER not needed)
- 14 October - final schools’ session - presentation of the works / discussion with Yudhanjaya (online)
RESIDENCY - IMMERSIVE ROOM - LARP
- working with Yudha online will require some time management between the sessions together and working solo
- we have to decide if and how to include a LARP session or two in this
to does:
- we need to organise a meeting with FdCM and their tech stuff to understand the specs of the immersive room and the needs to create the interactive panel - the estimate for the final delivery is in months
- (upon their request) we need to organise a meeting to introduce Yudha to FdCM’s social and economic structure as one of the possible models to be used in the novel/witnesspedia etc
By Friday we need to send a small programme and a (longer) abstract with the goals and the materials we would like to work with to allow them to organise the thing with the schools

guys, as an update to what I wrote yesterday, we have been informed that Emirates / Fly Dubai has cancelled the flight of Yudha, so we don’t need to take any decision on that…
Thanks for the update…we are testing two design for the LARP in these weeks, both have some character creation (very light indeed). Not sure as this can interact with the world-building session that I imagine being more in depth.
Other informations that maybe can help placing the LARP somewhere in the program: right now the games are 2/2.30h long and can accommodate 6 players each session. (here more info about it)

Just a quick update from me:
Some things have changed so I will only be able to fly to Sicily on the 7th. However, given that the school programme will be in Italian, I wouldn’t be able to contribute much to that anyway.
For the rest of the week, how do you think we should structure our time? Apart from the 7th, 10th and 14th - is anything else planned?
Not really. Yudha and I will have to do a lot of work online. I am still on holiday, but am appointing Ivan to lead the expedition. Will speak to him today.

ticket booking time and deciding on some points.
Starting from @hugi’s question into a broader range: a part from the 3 dates above, we have to organise the daily work during the residency, which will consist of daily briefings and a lot of “lab” work in between.
We will have to establish and somewhat adapt to @yudhanjaya’s time and needs - power shortages being a daily practice in Colombo, lately.
One major question is when should we (ER) sit together with @giacomo.pinaffo, Gaetano and their crew to discuss the funding possibilities for Witness and in general, how to develop the collaboration.
I propose 8 October for this meeting - it would give us a good starting point and some time for reflection during the stay in the place.
It also combines the dates of presence - in particular for @giacomo.pinaffo , @hugi and @nadia.
Tickets - Giacomo, what would you suggest?
- Flight to Catania, train to Messina
- Flight to Naples, boat/train to Messina
- Other solutions?

as for the our meeting, as said I won’t be in Messina from the 5th to the 9th of October, due to the kick off meeting of a LIFE project we lead. The first availability is for monday the 10th at 4PM, and we can have dinner together later.
As for the trip from Catania to Messina, the easiest way is the bus, leaving directly from the airport to the Messina train station:
Otherwise there’s also the train, from CATANIA FONTANAROSSA to MESSINA CENTRALE, but you have to walk 1km (or wait for the free bus doing the round trip from the airport to the train station):

Hello y’all, I wanted to revive the opportunity to play-test the games that we are working on for Playful Futures - Coeso in the next weeks in Sicily.
The games are 2 hours long + 20 minutes of debrief, 6 players max for game.
