“We look at living together because understanding how to build healthy relationships with other people and with ourselves is core to our well being as individuals, groups, communities and societies.”
How do we define the various contexts and in which we decide to work and live? For many of us this fundamental aspect of how we choose to live our lives is not even questioned - we spend most of our time following commonly held beliefs and practices that provide us with a framework for living and socialising. This week we want to delve into the topic of co-living and co-working communities by exploring the changing attitudes and assumptions about how we can live and work together, a theme that particularly resonates with stories and proposals submitted by Edgeryders community members and highlighted below:
- Family life and freedom of religion by Carlien Roodink
- Calafou, a postcapitalist eco-industrial colony by Matthias
- Creative home-based living by Bridget McKenzie
- When you live with your co-workers by John Coate
- Spawning The Reef: re-inventing communal working and living (again) by Alberto
- Rustavi: bottom-up urbanism in the making by Inge
- What Makes The Reef Different? by John Coate
Join Our Community Call
We invite you to our community call on Wednesday at 18:00 CET to discuss this and current topics in the Edgeryders community.
We would love to hear about your own experience of working and living in a community, what standards are expected and your personal involvement in setting up a space. We are working on our own co-working space in Brussels called The Reef, and we are on the lookout for ideas and proposals for developing the project. This will also be a session at our #OpenVillage festival in October.
If you simply want to listen in or talk about your own project, feel free to join the call.
It couldn’t be easier:
- Leave a comment below or email nadia@edgeryders.eu so we know you want to participate
- Join the Google Hangout on June 14th (Wednesday) at 18:00 CET
Have a great week!
