Online communities are a thing of mystery and wonder. How is it that people who have never met argue passionately, create projects together, become friends and sometimes enemies? The answer, I think, has to do with interaction across humans and its patterns. And we have an intuitive way to think about interaction: networks.
Sunday July 20th at 17.00, at the unMonastery, I will be giving a workshop on using network analysis to understand online conversations. The program:
Basic concepts on networks
How and why to use network analysis as a tool to manage online communities. We will use Edgesense as a tool, and the MT2019 community as a case study.
Some more advanced examples.
A practical exercise done by participants using Edgesense.
When this is over, we’ll go for pizza. To join us, go here.
This sounds amazing! I would so much want to come, but are you doing a hangout version? If not, may be someone can tie a tablet or a phone to a chair and bring me in?
Probably not, Ksenia. It would be a terrible experience for you, no proper audio etc. But you can get a lot done just using the interactive features of the program. Just go to http://edgeryders.edgesense.spazidigitali.com; click on all the “?” icons for inline help about the various features of the program; and then, take the interactive tutorial, that lets you play with and interpret real data (click on the “Tutorial” link top right).
Hey, unfortunately I won’t be in Matera but I took some time to try it out a while ago with Alberto and again today, and here are some insights about the experience. Maybe it helps, @K?
