Starting a new thread for the newsletter.

@ChrisM I suggested in the thread on the alternative designs (Alternative design for O8 and the two 2BRs in Asterix - #9 by Lee) to not wait too long with the communication about the new units.

Would you have space and inspiration to draft a newsletter about the new units? If not, feel free to let me know. I could find some time on Friday evening or Saturday afternoon in case of need.

Happy to do that! Would like to have a quick chat about this to be clear regarding the message. About a couple of other things as well. Going to switch to Signal to see if we when we can have a call…

Hi @manuelpueyo,

It seems like the address that appears in the “from” field when you are sending the newsletter ("manuel[at]thereef…) is not connected to a real email address.

So far I have received two complaints about it (from people getting an error message), and so I was wondering whether it would be possible to redirect this address to the general protonmail address? Any other solution is of course just as good, as long as we can fix this little problem.

I said that I would take over @ChrisM’s task while he is on a break, but I am realising that I don’t have the capacity.

Would it please be possible to find someone who would be willing and able to draft a newsletter, ideally by Sunday evening?

Inspiration can be found in previous versions. It doesn’t need to be a lot of text, and it doesn’t need to be original.

Key messages:

  • New online presentation on 17 July + link (see previous examples)

  • Many new members, only a few units left!

  • Building permit about to be submitted. Super exciting to see how much has happened in a year’s time!

Hi @ChrisM,

Assuming you are still the editor of the newsletter, here’s two minor things about the “About The Reef” annex:

  • It’s 22 units, not 21

  • The number of adults needs to be recalculated. I think we are at 24 now, but then we all know by now that I am unlikely to win any prices for my counting abilities :sweat_smile:.

The challenges you face counting are well documented and always good for lightening the mood in any given situation :wink:

I’ve changed the units to 22 in the latest version of the newsletter (although not before it went out).

I’ve changed the number of adults to 25, which is how many I count on the graphic you shared in the FM Signal chat today, not counting the inclusive unit avatar…

@joannes,

I think I’ve seen a message appear in your kanban about “find someone else to write the newsletter”. If that was not an imagination, then I don’t know who wrote the last issue.

Regardless: can you please point the next author to the two messages above? So 22 units, 25 adults, 5 children. TIA!

I wrote the last one, which I assume that will be the template for the next one. It is currently up to date for the number of units and adults, although I have changed the children from 4 to 5.

@Liesbet - if you are taking over the newsletter, feel free to reach out if anything in the previous versions needs clarifying… :slight_smile:
