Here it is:
“In Sweden in 2020, digitalisation has had to show what it’s good for, and the internet has been an invaluable help during the pandemic. Thanks to the internet, we have been able to keep in touch during social distancing, buy food and experience cultural events without risk of infection. We have worked and studied at a distance, but digital life has not been the same for everyone.”

(Tip: next time, you can use the Search function on edgeryders.eu - upper right corner, next to the hamburger menu, and type in the keywords in the title i.e. ‘Swedes’ and ‘internet’. It will return the story you’re looking for!)

This search engine workshop pursues an ambitious EU scenario in which the NGI open access architecture plays a positive role in opening European opportunities in the search domain.
The aim is to develop better search infrastructure solutions and tools and to support EU innovators and enterprises to deploy them as NGI. Collaboration at scale is necessary to build up European digital leadership.

When the COVID-19 crisis erupted in early 2020, the open data pipelines burst at the seams. In many countries, it has been surprisingly difficult for researchers, journalists and citizens to access even basic data on how the pandemic played out. Giorgia Lodi and Andrea Borruso fight for openness of covid data. You can ask them anything in the AMA live session on March 2nd 18:30-19:30 AMA - Data Openness and Covid Sign up here: Edgeryders Forms ngi4eu
@stefanoboski , this is the next AMA.
Here is flyer material for the outreach:
@MariaEuler thanks Maria! Unfortunately my current contract with Edgeryders has finished so I won’t be managing any of the social media content until further notice.

Thank you for the information. Wish you all the best.
Flyers for Master of networks:
@bojanbobic
I am covering for Maria while she is out on leave. I have a question about this process and the need for it, at least regarding NGI. If the ethnographers say they have enough material and actually don’t want to code more than what is there (and at this point hardly anything new shows up), then what is the purpose of doing this for NGI at this point? Is it to stimulate interest in the ‘final event’? @nadia ?
Meanwhile, what’s going on this week…
New EU rules for online platforms regarding taking down terrorist content within 1 hour of a warning:
I’m pretty sure these rules apply to this ER site just like all the others.
I guess we’ll find out what this means, “Companies should publish annual transparency reports on what action they have taken to stop the dissemination of terrorist content.”
An innovative approach to sustainable internet - adjust servers according to where the sun is shining:
The EU should pay attention to this kind of thing if it is not already.
Alberto led the Interpretation Challenge at the recent Masters of Networks event:
How much information do we lose when we filter in only edges whose k_p value is above a minimum threshold?
Let’s make a few observations based on the NGI Forward dataset.
k and k_p are positively correlated, but not as tightly as you might think (0.41).
There are quite a lot of edges with high k, but a relatively low k_p. As a result, when we impose a higher k_p threshold, even by just one unit, we are throwing away many high-intensity edges. Let us consider only the values of k_p between…
