If you are coming to OpenVillage, I highly recommend you take the time to understand where you are coming and what kind of expectations are at play from the different groups operating in an open network like the one in which we operate. This is a time when many community members are dreaming and preparing for the next big thing - the OpenVillage network of houses. It would be great to jump through the first hoops quicklier, and actually benefit from the massive work which has been put into the supportive infrastructure.
I propose me, you, everyone takes some time to (re)read key posts showing how we got here and how this community works. There is an explicit social contract proposition for years, yet I think the most valuable things are interspersed over different moments in time.
Here’s what I could collect browsing around, the list is open though…
-
How the Edgeryders company and the community live in symbiosis, a post from 2013 when we first incorporated
-
Proposed multipartite social contract between all users of edgeryders.eu
-
How we don’t land jobs around here, but we ourselves create generative contributions.
-
How engaging the networks needs connecting global to local, but also caring for the stewards. Reflections after the edgeryders gathering in 2014
-
Failing forward in our 3rd year. Blog post about a company-community fallout and how we cleaned up the mess.
-
The type of opportunities the edgeryders company can and has secured for members. An open list, not up to date though.
